What would a school day look like if it were organized by the students themselves, guided by their passions, curiosities, and interests?

The answer to this question is brought to life at the Nievo Scientific and Linguistic High School in Padua, where the concept of self-management is embraced in a concrete way through the eagerly anticipated event titled "100 Nuovi Orizzonti" on Tuesday, April 4th 2023.

Following the challenging period of the Covid pandemic, the school principal, Carlo Marzolo, has displayed remarkable trust and granted the students the freedom to take charge. This day of self-management was initiated by the student representatives who formed the "Assemblies and Guidance" committee, driven by the ambition to give shape to their collective interests.

Under my guidance, the committee met with passion and discipline every week, fostering dialogue among all students through surveys and questionnaires. The culmination of these efforts is the much-awaited April 4th event—a testament to their journey of self-discovery.

The program encompasses a diverse range of activities designed to engage and inspire. Renowned chess champion Lorenzo Lodici will conduct an exclusive masterclass, while Luca Traini, a celebrated author from the publishing house "Becco Giallo," will lead an exciting workshop on comics. Additionally, the dedicated teachers of Nievo High School will offer unconventional in-depth lessons, while university orientation conferences will empower students to make informed choices about their academic futures.

What truly stands out are the numerous encounters with guest speakers from various fields who have generously accepted the invitation to engage in meaningful conversations with the students. These sessions will be expertly moderated by the students themselves, further fostering a sense of ownership and empowerment.

Esteemed educators, university students, CNR researchers, and local luminaries such as Luigi Biasetto, world champion pastry chef, and the THRUST teaam, an international group of rocket researchers, will share their valuable insights and experiences.

With a total of 65 activities planned throughout the morning, featuring 37 external guests, and actively involving 30 Nievo students in the organizational process, this self-management event promises to be an extraordinary showcase of talent, passion, and collaborative spirit.

The students' desire to take the lead, coupled with the unwavering support of their school principal and the enthusiastic engagement of both faculty and guest speakers, ensures that "100 New Horizons" will be a truly remarkable and transformative experience for all involved.

Come sarebbe una giornata di scuola se fosse organizzata dagli studenti stessi, guidati dalle loro passioni, curiosità e interessi?

La risposta, al Liceo Scientifico e Linguistico Nievo di Padova, è oggi molto concreta ed è rappresentata dalla giornata di autogestione in calendario nella mattinata di martedì 4 aprile intitolata "100 nuovi orizzonti”.

Questa formula, già sperimentata in passato, è stata riproposta dopo il periodo Covid e dimostra la voglia di fare e la concretezza dei ragazzi.

Autorizzata dal dirigente scolastico Carlo Marzolo dimostratosi disponibile a dare fiducia e libertà di movimento ai suoi ragazzi, la giornata è stata promossa dai rappresentanti di Istituto che hanno creato la commissione “Assemblee e orientamento” con l’obiettivo di far affiorare gli interessi a cui dare corpo in questa autogestione.

La commissione, da me guidata, si è riunita con passione e disciplina ogni settimana stimolando il confronto tra tutti gli studenti attraverso sondaggi e questionari. La giornata del 4 aprile è quindi la sintesi di un percorso!

Il programma include anche una masterclass di scacchi tenuta dal campione Lorenzo Lodici, un workshop sul fumetto condotto dall'autore della casa editrice “Becco Giallo” Luca Traini, lezioni inusuali di approfondimento tenute dai docenti dello stesso Liceo e conferenze di orientamento universitario per assistere gli studenti ad una scelta Universitaria consapevole e ponderata.

Spiccano poi numerosi incontri con relatori provenienti da settori molto diversi che hanno accettato, generosamente, l’invito a dialogare con gli studenti sui temi più disparati e che saranno moderati dagli studenti stessi.

Docenti e Studenti Universitari, ricercatori del CNR, ma anche eccellenze del territorio quali Luigi Biasetto, campione del mondo di pasticceria e THRUST team, gruppo di ricercatori che si occupa della costruzione di razzi a livello internazionale si racconteranno.

65 Attività nel corso della mattinata, 37 ospiti esterni alla scuola, 30 studenti del Nievo coinvolti nell’organizzazione.
